Curriculum at Creekford Academy
Creekford Academy utilizes a blended curriculum in order to provide hands-on, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences, while also ensuring that our students are well prepared and equipped for success in their later years of schooling. We strive to exceed standard Ontario Curriculum expectations through our experiential and emergent approach to learning ; a complete approach to education that is rooted in the belief and value of “big picture” understanding over detailed, rote comprehension. Learning is driven by diverse opportunities and exposure, where students are able to relate experiences and observations to curricular concepts.
The development and acquisition of fundamental and foundational skills in Literacy and Numeracy remain important facets of the learning model at Creekford Academy. While the outdoors and experiential opportunities act as a venue to introduce, explore, and apply math and language skills, Ontario Curriculum expectations are delivered through periods of specific, targeted instruction.
