Fostering academic excellence among primary aged students through innovative, experiential, and nature-based education.

Located in the west end of Kingston, Ontario, Creekford Academy is an Independent School for students in kindergarten to grade three.

Situated on 100 sprawling acres of private land, the beautifully refurbished 1800's stone school house along with the open spaces, treed areas, natural ridge, and marsh brimming with insects and wildlife provide the perfect indoor and outdoor classrooms for meaningful, holistic learning.

Creekford Academy provides a compassionate, challenging, and inspiring environment where students are safe to take risks and explore their potential, and in doing so, they strengthen and grow in all developmental realms: cognitively, socially, physically, and emotionally.

We are dedicated to helping develop resilient, confident, passionate children who possess inquisitive minds, strong skills, and healthy bodies.

“Our son started at Creekford Academy during a time of great uncertainty, however, the staff has provided the students with the most wonderful learning opportunities and a sense of “normalcy”. Our son has grown tremendously in both his confidence and his independence, and we know this is a direct result of his time at Creekford. We are continuously impressed by what he’s learned each day, both in the traditional and non-traditional school subjects. The entire community at Creekford is wonderfully supportive, friendly, and welcoming - our whole family looks forward to each day!”

“Life at Creekford: This Is Experiential Learning”

This video sheds light on the diverse learning experiences that are created through our unique model of education, as well as illustrates how our dynamic environment brings together observation, creativity, and problem solving, while simultaneously building foundational skills in what are considered “traditional subject areas”.

Such active interactions in early years education not only allow children to see purpose in their learning, but also to enjoy the process, and through these experiential teaching strategies they are encouraged to be exploratory, expressive, communicative, and resilient. By diverging from the traditional classroom/school environment a vast array of learning opportunities are possible for your child; opportunities that expose them to a wealth of disciplines/subjects, many of which cannot be found or are difficult to uncover within the four walls of a classroom.

The original kindergarten – the children’s garden – conceived by German educator Freidrich Froebel in the 19th century, was a place where children learned through play, often in nature. That idea is fast eroding. Children aren’t playing in the garden anymore; instead they are filling in bubbles on a worksheet
